"Törggelen" in the Valle Isarco

Toast to that

The traditional Törggelen celebration in the Isarco Valley is today an unmissable autumn event, which both locals and visitors always look forward to. With the arrival of autumn, we will take you through an unforgettable taste journey, giving you the chance to sample the most traditional South Tyrol specialities!

Did you know
that ...

… the word “Törggelen” is not from the German “torkeln” (stumbling due to too much drink),
the Latin “torquere”, which means “twist or press”?

The unmistakable smell of roasted chestnuts, with their scorched skins and the great tasting fruit inside, new and young wine and must (before fermentation), the traditional South Tyrol ravioli (Schlutzkrapfen), the traditional and filling barley soup, canederli, home-made sausage and sauerkraut, speck, smoked meat, krapfen with jam ... These are the specialities that you can sample from traditional farmhouse kitchens during the Törggelen period, and which will obviously also be available at our two hotels. Tradition demands that in the Isarco Valley Törggelen starts with a walk through the colourful autumn landscape, which reminds us that the chestnut path (Kastanienweg) runs right by our two hotels. Isn’t that great? All you need, is to end the day on a high note with an enjoyable Törggelen evening.
