That feeling of nostalgia when thinking about mountains and unspoilt natural landscape is everywhere ... who amongst us does not have a much loved place? Somewhere to which we feel inexplicably attracted; where we feel at peace and every breath is freedom?

The golden path: the Villandro Alp

A sun-kissed plateau: as soon as you see it you fall in love. Endless number of natural treasures scattered around a plane of 20 km² at an altitude between 1,700 and 2,000 m. In summer you will be enchanted by the green fields and the scent of the meadows. In winter the romantic scenery is the perfect backdrop for characteristic mountain huts and the snowy woodland. And during the whole year, the unique views of Gruppo delle Odle, Gruppo del Sella, the Siusi Alp with the imposing Sciliar, Sassolungo and Sassopiatto, Catinaccio, Vedrette di Ries and the Alps of Zillertal.

The Villandro Alp is like a massive open-air cinema – and you can easily get front row! The Gasser Lodge (1,700 m) is accessible by car (chargeable parking) or shuttle bus.
For a break before, during and after your excursion, you can stop at one of six huts, where you will be able to enjoy wonderful cuisine!
Endless excursion rings, paths and Alpine tops: all there to be explored, on foot or on your mountain bike.
A suggestion: a visit to the Lago del Morto (Totensee) lake and the Chiesetta del Morto (Totenkirchl) church.
In winter you can enjoy 30 km of well-kept paths and tracks, as well as several sledge tracks.

According to the Eurac Applied Remote Detection Institute of Bolzano, based on longitude and latitude the centre of South Tyrol is right by the Chiesetta del Morto church, in the town of Villandro. Fresh and pure mountain air and breath-taking views ... here on the Villandro Alp (south area of the Isarco Valley) you will find not just the centre of South Tyrol, but also your inner peace!

Our own little heaven: the “Toamer Rastl” hut

Our hut is on the Villandro Alp at about 2,000 metres of altitude. Our Scottish Highland cows and our animals are certainly not the only ones who enjoy their Summers on the Alp! From June to October we spoil our guests with:

1 excursion per week (1.5 hours / 5 km) to our mountain hut with barbecue included (lunchtime), with home-made sausages, grilled vegetables, our own produced beef and home-made bread. The icing on the cake: our Junior Chef Walter will entertain you with the cheerful notes of his accordion.
Meeting time at 12:00 o’clock at the hut itself, so that everyone can make their way in full tranquillity at their own pace. The starting point is the Gasser Lodge, which can be reached by car or with the shuttle bus (9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. – return at 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.).
